Drum Corps Audition Video Studio: Film and Submit with Confidence
Make your performance easy to evaluate. Confirm the prompt first, use a stable camera and clear sound, and submit exactly as the corps requests.
Make the video
easy to evaluate.
A clear video helps staff focus on your performance. The corps’ assignment and submission rules always come first.
Set up before you record
- Read the prompt twice. List every exercise, order, angle, take, orientation, and spoken introduction requested.
- Choose a quiet, bright space. Face a window or soft light source. Reduce echo and background noise when possible.
- Stabilize the camera. Use a tripod or secure surface; check that the recording will not be interrupted.
- Frame the requested view. If full body is requested, keep your face, instrument or equipment, and movement visible with space around the edges.
- Check audio. Record a short sample and listen back for clipping, low volume, echo, noise, and clear timing.
- Plan storage and upload. Confirm battery, free storage, internet connection, file format, and the sharing permissions requested.
Record and review without breaking the rules
Follow the corps’ instructions exactly. If they ask for a continuous take or prohibit editing, do not cut, splice, retune, filter, or otherwise alter the performance. If multiple takes are allowed, label them clearly and submit only the requested number. Re-record only when the instructions allow it.
Before uploading, verify the file opens and plays from beginning to end. Use the requested naming convention, destination, access permissions, and deadline. Keep the confirmation message or receipt. If the upload fails, contact the staff using the official channel before the deadline and explain the problem clearly.
Final submission check
- Correct assignment and required sequence
- Correct framing and orientation
- Clear, uninterrupted sound
- Required file type and file name
- Sharing access works for the evaluators
- Submission sent to the correct destination before the deadline
Every corps has its own process. The current packet and staff instructions override general advice and examples.
