getting cut

getting cut

Audition video example. Watch this clip to see how an audition assignment may look on camera. Use it to observe presentation and clarity; it is not a universal requirement or a substitute for a corps’ official packet.

What to notice

  • Can you clearly see and hear the assigned performance?
  • Is the performer positioned and framed as the assignment requires?
  • Is the camera steady, the light clear, and the sound free of clipping or distracting noise?
  • Does the video follow any stated order, count-in, take, and editing rules?

Before you record your own audition

Use the newest packet for the corps and role you are auditioning for. Confirm the exact exercises or excerpts, camera angle and distance, landscape or portrait orientation, whether the whole body or only the playing area must be visible, number of takes, editing restrictions, file type, filename, upload method, link permissions, deadline, and confirmation procedure. If a continuous take is required, do not cut, splice, or alter it. Review the saved file and test the share link from a signed-out browser before submitting.

Video information

I put a lot of thought into this one.

If things didn’t work out for you this audition season, I hope this video helps… Getting rejected from something sucks, there’s no denying that. But in my experience, it has usually led to other doors opening for me that were actually better for me in the long run. These two stories illustrate how exactly that happened!

Many thanks to my dudes Jared Baltazar and Zach Borromeo from Broken City for being in the video.
