Audition and membership information from DrumCorps.net

Difficulty is a comparative estimate: 7th Regiment typically auditions in November and December, with some candidates invited back in January. The corps has not published a current tuition total in the sources reviewed. DCI’s Open Class benchmark is about $2,200 in total participation costs, including about $1,500 in tuition and fees; this is a category average, not a 7th Regiment quote. A 2026 summer openings event listed a $50 audition fee; the 2027 fee is unconfirmed. Rank reflects 9th of 12 corps at the 2026 Open Class Finals (70.625). See official audition information and DCI’s cost guide.

7th Regiment connects southeastern Connecticut’s drum corps heritage with an accessible route into modern DCI performance. Founded in 2002 by New London Surfers alumni, the corps combines a teaching mission, a regional rehearsal base and summer touring.

The corps’ about page identifies its debut as New Haven’s St. Patrick’s Day parade in 2004, with 36 members and five northeastern DCI appearances that year. Alumni continuity matters to the story: people who had experienced an earlier local corps helped create a new opportunity for the next generation. Board biographies also show former performers returning as volunteers and organizational leaders.
